DAY 1 | Upon your arrival in İzmir, your tour guide and driver will greet you in front of terminal building with a sign board and accompany you to your accommodation. Once your check in process is done, you will start to your first visit! Start with a visit to the Agora, the famous marketplace of old Smyrna, for a glimpse into Izmir’s distant past. Today the Open Air Museum of Izmir, this historical site is believed to have been built during the reign of Alexander the Great. Accompanied by your guide, wander down the ancient colonnades and learn about life in the city as it was thousands of years ago. Next, visit the Historical Elevator built in 1907 to allow Izmirians to get from the seaside to the higher portions of the city. Take a ride to the terraces up top for an opportunity to marvel at the panoramic views of Izmir and its surrounding mountains and bays. The final stop today is the Kizlaragasi Hani, a caravanserai dating back to the 18th century. This typical Ottoman inn features a 4,000 square meter courtyard that today hosts a vibrant bazaar full of stalls selling souvenirs and handicrafts. Stroll through this lively, labyrinthine marketplace and expose your senses to the heart and soul of Izmir. Shop for gifts to take back home to your loved ones, or grab a decadent cup of Turkish coffee and simply watch the hustle and bustle around you. Your tour concludes when you are dropped off back at your hotel. | |
DAY 2 | Meet your driver and private tour guide in order to discover the Ancient City of Pergamon. Stop by the Sanctuary of Asclepius, an ancient medical temple and learn about the roots of its cult. Hop on a telpher and try to imagine the past days of Pergamon from the slopes of its Acropolis where you can find the Altar of Zeus (said to be “the place where Satan has his throne”). Other spectacular relics are the Trojan Temple and the world’s steepest ancient theater. After the drive back to Izmir you will be transfered back to your hotel. | |
DAY 3 | Meet your private driver and guide for a transfer to Selcuk town where you’ll embark on a fascinating tour of the Ancient City of Ephesus. The ruins were designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, is considered to be one of the World’s greatest classical sites. Take a guided hike through this historical metropolis surrounded by ruined marble buildings and gain insight into the Ephesians’ life as it was thousands of years ago. Walk down through the Arcadian Way lined with ancient columns and visit the the Terrace Houses, the Roman Baths and harvest the day at the striking façade of the Celsus Library. Admire the beauty of glorious Grand Theatre of Ephesus. Continue your day with a visit to the Shrine of Virgin Mary, where she is believed to live out her final years, and the Basilica of St. John. After the conclusion of the tour, continue on to Bodrum where you will be dropped off at your hotel. | |
DAY 4 | Bodrum, the sun-drenched Turkish Riviera, is a gateway to the famous Turquoise Coast. Besides hosting remarkable bays, this city is a place where you can observe the traces of history. Accompanied by your private guide, start your day with a visit to the Ancient Theater of Halicarnassus. This age-old structure is picturesquely standing on a hillside and offers a view of the city below. Continue to the Myndos Gate, the only surviving entrance of ancient Halicarnassus. It used to be a part of the city’s walls, built by a local king in the IV century. Your next stop is the historical Windmills. A symbol of the region, the windmills stand proudly on top of a hill overlooking the islands on the horizon and the downtown at the same time. This place is the best spot to take plenty of photographs. In order to put a checkmark on your bucket list, head to the remains of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Listen to your guide speak to the past grandeur of the site and explain its story. Making your way into the city make a stop at Saint Petrium, a medieval fortress, built by the Hospitaller Knights of St John. This building is also home to Turkey’s unique Underwater Archeology Museum which hosts many ancient shipwrecks and artifacts obtained during the first underwater archaeological excavations in human history. After your tour spend some free time shopping for souvenirs or conclude back to your hotel. | |
DAY 5 | The countryside of Bodrum Peninsula sets a complete contrast to the bouncing tourist resorts along the shore, laden with numerous hotels, world-famous clubs/bars and jazzy shops. Meet your tour guide to drive through the hinterland and discover the rural beauties and friendly locals. Your first stop on the way is a local olive oil farm. As in many Mediterranean communities, olive growing and harvesting is a way of life around Bodrum. Life goes around looking after the olive trees, harvesting them and finally getting the “liquid gold” after the year’s hard work. Enjoy tasting brand new aromas of olive oil and try to find out the methods of pressing it. Next, take a short journey among the pine forrests and visit to Etrim Village where you will be warmly welcomed by the chief of the village. Take a walk around rustic houses and hovels, running chickens and lazy cows, have a natter with the residents. Enjoy with every single savour of traditional Turkish cuisine at lunch and feel the hospitality of locals. See how they are rightfully proud of their authentic Milas carpets and rugs woven in its villages and hamlets by visiting their warehouse where you can simply understand this art in a short workshop. Head to the final destination of the day and learn how to maket he perfect wine and food pairings at a local Vineyard during the scenic sunset. Begin with the tour on of the cellar on arrival then raise a glass of Zindafel to greet the day goes by. DAY 6 | Explore Turkey’s Turquoise Coast in style from aboard a private traditional Turkish gulet boat. After a transfer to the local harbour, board your vessel and start your day by sailing along the unspoiled shorelines of the Turkish Riviera to Aquarium Cove, known for its crystal-clear waters and abundance of fish. Take a refreshing swim in this secluded bay or simply unwind and bask in the warm Aegean sun. Continue to Kara Ada, the Black Island famous for its healing mineral springs. Bathe in the soothing thermal waters and head to the nearby cave to treat your skin with mud believed to have been used by Cleopatra herself to preserve her famed beauty. After getting back on your boat, sail South past a rocky outcrop towards the Poyraz Cove. Its gorgeous clear waters have made it one of the most popular diving spots in the area. Take in tranquil scenery as you make your way to the nearby Meteor Bay. Jump into its irresistible blue waters and get unique opportunity to swim in a hole created by a meteorite impact. Your day at sea also wouldn’t be complete without a delicious lunch. The excursion ends when you travel back to the harbour and are transferred back to your hotel in Bodrum. | |
